Reccomend lesser known itch io games here
Disclosure I personally know these devs in the first post >_>
A black filter over my nerves a short visual novel about face blindness by Erin Lee (author of the nauseating SLIME TIME— highly recommended). Mind the cw's.
A circle of charity A heart wrenching webpunk game about an angel's struggles made by Kate bagenzo. Mind the cw's.
Cataphract OI I have no idea how sraëka bends rpg maker 2003 to their will but it's amazing. Fight against the clock! -
Some recent ones I enjoyed were
waste eater a 10 minute IF thing
LesbiAnts game boy rpg about lesbian ants
Barren Planet turn based strategy game for DOS
The Aching Another DOS game, this is an adventure game inspired by Sierra's 80s games minus the lousy parts of those
Breath chill walking sim that uses a heavily modified Bitsy -
@michael breath looks cool omg and Sean's hacks are there haha
-
A few favorites that come to mind:
Funny Walk – Tense For Life because we can always use more digitized sprites
CONURBATION a deeply unpleasant experience I can't help but recommend any chance I get
Butterfly Collector trans Myst? Trans Myst.
You Are Weak a game that begs to be put on during a party. You'll learn a lot -
This post is deleted! -
I went to post about a very cute and good ttrpg called Dinocar that I backed on a crowdfunding site but I guess it's technically not on Itch yet, so here is another good family friendly ttrpg that the same people worked on
-
@michael ok now it’s out. This is a very good ttrpg for families
https://dinoberryjam.itch.io/dinocar -
https://possumcreekgames.itch.io/wanderhome is also a good broadly friendly (family included) TTRPG, but doubles as a really cozy beautiful art book. Check out these two splash pages:
edit: changed those to links because they're Large
-
Yeah, Wanderhome is a good time.
I guess Gobliiins 5 counts as an Itch game? It's weird thinking of it that way but that's the only place where it's available. @SpindleyQ and I have talked about it a lot elsewhere but it's actually pretty decent and maybe one of the more successful "retro adventure game dev making a return" kickstarters. Sure it's rough around the edges and the game is split into 4 applications because the dev doesn't completely understand Adventure Game Studio, but it's been fun so far and has the spirit of the original trilogy.

@michael "the dev doesn't completely understand Adventure Game Studio" I barely understood it myself bahaha!
